There are multiple ways to join the Indian Air Force (IAF) as a commissioned officer or as an airman. Here are some of the main entry points:

1. National Defence Academy (NDA) Entry: After completing 10+2 education, candidates can appear for the NDA entrance exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). 4. NCC Special Entry: Air Wing Senior Division ‘C’ Certificate holders of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) can apply for NCC Special Entry. They go through a selection process and training to become commissioned officers.
5. Meteorology Entry: Graduates with a postgraduate degree in Meteorology or related fields can apply for the Meteorology Branch in the Indian Air Force.
6. University Entry Scheme (UES): Pre-final year engineering students can apply for UES. Selected candidates undergo training and are commissioned as officers in the Technical Branches of the IAF.
For Airmen (Non-Commissioned Officers):
1. Group X (Technical) and Group Y (Non-Technical) Airmen: Candidates can apply for Airmen Group X and Group Y trades after 10+2. Group X includes technical trades like aircraft maintenance and electronics, while Group Y includes non-technical trades like medical assistants, administrative assistants, etc.
2. Indian Air Force Airmen Selection Test (IAF STAR): Indian Air Force conducts the STAR exam for recruitment of airmen in various trades. Candidates are selected based on their performance in the test and further undergo training.
